Here is a short interview that I did with Ulf of the metalcore(?) band, Deafaid Victory:Hi Ulf, could you please tell me shortly about Deafaid's History? Ulf:We started late in the 1997, the members were, I Ulf (guitar and vocals), Dennis (bass) and David (drums). After two months we recorded our first Demo, that nowadays is banned for everyone. :-) After about a year did Marcus (guitar) join us, when we should record our first quality demo, named 'The payment'. But it really didn't make so much atenttion to the masses so we continued to do a lot of livegigs, write new songs, become better musicians and everything you have to do if you shall succeed. In March, this year, we succeded to to made the finals in the music event called "Musik Direkt" but sadly enough with didn't succed so well there, which made us, our fans and our friends very dissapointed. Recently we recorded our new Demo, it is a self-financed CD with 9 tracks. Now Marcus shall move to Stockholm, so we have to see that happends in the future, perhaps he can continue to be in the band, else we'll continue by ourselves, because we have no plans to take another guitarist, at least now. Victory: How should you describe your music for one that has never before heard you? Ulf: Hmmm...a mixture of everthing. Everyone in the band has their own influence, that makes our music very experimental...but perhaps we could call it metalcore. But it's difficult to compare us to another band. Victory:What kind of musical influences do you guys have? Ulf:Hmm... Our drummer has many influences from the drummer in Dream Theater, Dennis has influences from Red Hot Chilli Peppers and I (Ulf) has Sepulura and Korn as my main influence-sources, but it is a lot more, it's difficult to name them all... Victory:You said you've released a couple of CD's, where can you get them? Victory:Do you have any dreams with the band Deafaid, what would you choose if you'd an oppertunity to do so? Ulf:You always have dreams, and they always change :-) What we want is the people that appreciate our music. But our dream now is that we could do some more gigs, to get a gig abroad would be fantastic! And to get a record-deal of course.
