Shadows of Paragon - November 2006

Oceansong:
How did it all begin?

Linus
The whole thing began in the summer of 2001 when Joakim, Karg and Joel were talking about starting a band together. I met Joakim for the first time at a campsite in Öland that same summer, and we started talking. He came with me to my trailer where we listened to christian metal.
He was surprised that I listened to that kind of music, and he asked me if I could play any instrument.
I answered that I mostly played the piano, but also the guitar"
Then his face lit up and he exclaimed:
"Oh, do you want to play in my band? By the way, where do you live?"
"In Lönsboda", I answered, and then his face lit up even more and he said:
"What? That´s only 20 km away from where I live!"

About a month later I went for a practice with the band and I knew immediately that I was stuck in this. The band had already found a guitarist named Erik and he was in the band for a while, but after a couple of months he quit after the music went for the heavier and the more extreme direction.

And then the name of the band, .Allsherjar., was proclaimed.
During the spring of 2002 we recorded a 5-song demo and soon Fredrik took the bass in his hand for the first time and he was immediately a part of the band.

In 2003 Zharlie joined the band, and back then we were in a huge change of the music style, so we thought that a name-change of the band would be good; Shadows of Paragon saw it´s first dawn.

Oceansong:
Wow! Sounds like a good start. Do you still remember you first concert?

Linus
Yes, you always remember your first concert. It was the 22nd of March 2002 at Vox in Huskvarna, Sweden, a small place with just a couple of visitors. I.m not really sure, but it was about 20 persons there, not that much people, but we were having a great time!

Oceansong:
How come you started to play blackmetal?

Linus
We started to play together, we found a sound which we liked and worked from that point. It took a long time before we made more songs which held the same style, but when we landed we started to call our music something like .extreme metal. with influences from black- and deathmetal.
The term blackmetal is what most of those who have listened to our music have called it.

Oceansong:
You held a concert in Mexico a while ago. Can you shortly tell us about it?

Linus
Yes, it was a great experience to travel so far from home and share the same stage with bands like Petra, Bride, Jacob´s Dream and Crimson Thorn. We were well met there by the organizers and the audience.
God did a lot there. People got physically healed and we got the chance to pray for many after the gig.

Oceansong:
Are you working on a second album?
Linus
For the moment we are producing songs, practicing together and .polishing. unrecorded, old material. The future will show what the final results are.

Oceansong:
All right, that sounds very good. I get to wish you all good luck and blessings in your future work. And stay metal!

Linus
Thank you. We wish you God´s blessings and the Holy Spirit´s guidance in everything you perform.
