Pursuit - Quest

Pursuit is one of those bands that have had one heck of a time to get their album released. After years of disappointment, i.e. members leaving and contracts getting spoiled, they finally release this album, called Quest.

Musically speaking, one can say that they're exploring one quite interesting progressive path, the closest thing I can compare them to be Ayreon (Into the electric castle) and Arjen's other band StarOne. What I really like about Pursuit is that they often choose to take us on many interesting journeys into the progressive jungle, where one cannot say what will appear around the next musical corner. I also admire how the band is using their talent in writing some awesome melodies and how every member is able to show their skills in most of the songs. My favourite part must be that keyboard solo in the song "Answer the call", it leaves me breathless!

The singer must also be mentioned, he sounds very much like Damien Wilson (ex Threshold), which is one of my favourite singers around. With emotion and depth he delivers the songs and the vocal melodies are all splendid.

The thing that holds this band back is the production, which is a bit too dull and that may hold them back from being accepted in the masses. I still find it good enough to not disturb my listening moments with them, but if they had a more polished and proper production next time, I really think this band could get a major breakthrough.

That apart, this is still highly recommended!
