Veni Domine - 23:59
After waiting an agonizing large amount of time for their previous album "IIII: The album of labour" we must feel like living in paradise when their new one comes just two years later. Veni Domine, known as the true master of symphonic doom metal, has been around for soon 20 years and in that time they have released some albums, which must be considered as some of the finest in the symphonic doom genre.
Lead by the charismatic singer in Fredrik Sjöström, whose voice seem to be as consistent as ever, and the axe-master Torbjörn Weinesjö, they here come with a piece of art which is I would claim is as good as any of their previous works. It's majestic and the atmospheres they build in their songs are absolutely amazing. Listen to the songs "Patience receive" and the terrific "Valley of the visions", both awesome songs and the later one contender for the "song of the year" award. The whole album is filled with powerful material and you can hear that this group has been together for a while, since they are very tight.
I cannot stop heaping praises on this album and since the production, which is made by Torbjörn, is also crystal clear yet heavy, I cannot find any major reasons why I shouldn't give this album a top rating.
It is slow, majestic and simply wonderful.
