VIP - Maasta Olet Tullut

I got the wonderful honour to receive this album just a short time after the release to review it for you. This is like a loaf of bread that has just been taken out from the oven. So, it has been three long years after their last one. In fact, this is the first album of VIP I have ever owned, but already from this material I know I need to find the other albums as well.

Melodic metal and heavy rock is the biggest issue here. This album is another proof of the fact that this is one of the genres the Finnish people master. And this has all the stuff melodic metal needs: powerful voice of the singer, rough riffing and solos proving talent. There are also some nice jumping from faster to slower and vice versa, so an edge of progressivity is to be found, too. This should please the ears of fans of Stratovarius, Kilpi and Rob Rock.

Lyrics are done in Finnish, that might cause problems in the international market, but over half of the worlds population speak English, so enough is enough, I guess. The lyrics are mainly testimonies, small sermons and encouragement to keep going. Many people will find themselves in the lyrics.

The legacy of melodic metal from Finland goes on, and there is no end in sight.
