Hallowed - End of the age
|
This is one if the discs I've been waiting for for a very long time.
I heard them live last year and became intrested in them. Most due
to their fantastic guitarplayer - He is a SHREDDER!!! Actually
one of the best I've ever heard, he plays much in the same vein
as Kai Hansen of Gamma Ray. Hallowed sounds in deed like the old
Gamma Ray.
One thing that I remember though was that I didn't like the singer very much
when I heard him. But on the disc he has really improved.
Well on to the songs:
1. "End of the age" is a quite fast song, a good guitarsolo and a good
chorus but nothing special.
2. "The challenge" is another quite fast song introduced by a cool keyboard
playing which makes me remind of some Stratovarius intros. This song has a
very cool chorus and a SUPERB guitarsolo, after this you understand what I
meant with shredder...!
3. "The chosen one". This is a ballad that means a lot to me. I was going to
the hospital for a urgent operation, and then I heard this song where Michael
sings "Your fire brings me healing as it takes away the pain". Actually it
made me cry when I heard it! It has a progressive feel in to it which is very
cool.
4. "Jesus Christ". Amen! This is another favo track of mine. It has cool lyrics
and a super superb guitarsolo which makes me wondering how far this dude could
have come if he played in a secular band. Even though I hope that Hallowed
makes it in to the secular market as well, they deserve it!.
5. "New millenium". A cool track to end the EP with. Not as good as the
previous ones but still it's strong!
I recommend this album to anyone in to the heavy metal stuff!
