| Well, what to say about the American metal band, Hearken? Well, not surprisingly they're playing brutal death metal. The big question is: are they any good? Well, I personally think that they have succeded here, and the have mangaed to create some good tunes. The vocalist is at the most parts very low. The 3-song EP starts with the longest song, the title track, It Is Written. I like the guitars in this track and lyrics is very Christ centered, which is a good thing. It is overall a good tune, I like the verse: "Through the power of the Holy Spirit we will suffer no defeat". This is great stuff! The next song is my personal favorite, it is called Arise, and is a praise song to the Lord. I love the chorus "Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of Host." Again some good guitarworks here followed by some great vocals. It is an excellent song, I love it! The EP ends with the shortest song, called Discernment. It reminds me little about Slayer and Entombed, it is also a good song. The production has to mentioned, often when you recieve promo CD's you recieve crappy production but here has Hearken succeded to produce something good, not splendid but good, much better than you usually hear from indie bands. I think you should check Hearken out, they're an intresting band with a huge potential. |
