Festival Lemon3 Review - Various Artists

The midsummer weekend was a busy time for the victoryzine crew. While Victory, Ergonymous and Emissary were attending a music festival in the Jakobstad area, Winterstorm had the possibility to visit the Lemon03 festival in Keuruu. On stage were bands like Random Eyes, Callisto, Jacks Of All Trades, Dust Eater Dogs and the most exciting of 'em all. The brrrutal Crimson Moonlight! (There were also some softer bands whose names not necessary have to be mentioned in a metal site.)

The weather was simply perfect for a whole day with good (and even not that good) music and cool people at the old sport arena in the centre of the little town Keuruu.

By accident I missed the 2-3 first playing bands, including Random Eyes. What a shame, they should be pretty good (Check Victory's reviews). I thought the concert began 13.00 but it had begun 12.00 already.

In the afternoon Jacks Of All Trades entered the stage and delivered its metal core (or whatever it was). Dust Eater Dogs was next on stage and played mostly songs from their new CD .Hardbiters Inn. Which had been released a few days before. After a half hour with the interesting hard rock/metal core of DED it was time for Callisto. Then my friends and I took place just beneath the stage to make sure that we had good places for the rest of the evening. I had never heard Callisto before and was a bit disappointed... kind of Metal core again! Somebody had told me that they would have some black influences, however I didn´t really notice any. But the singer had a really terrifying voice!

After Callisto left the stage was it getting really exciting. They guys of Crimson Moonlight entered in their costumes and started building the drum set and tuning instruments. As soundcheck they played the beginning of Mist of the Spiritual Dimension. (if I remember correct) when suddenly one of Gustavs drum sticks did an air trip and hit the ground besides Pilgrim, which made the audience making some noise. The soundcheck was pretty long but was of course just a great pleasure to attend. The gig started with a keyboard intro by Petter, who handles the keyboard nowadays, while the rest of the band stood with their backs against the audience. Suddenly they turned around and the gig was started in a true blackish way. The scene show was really outstanding. Crimson Moonlight played aggressively and with emotion even if the support from the relatively small audience was almost non-existing. After playing a few songs, Hubertus had to change a string and Pilgrim said a couple of words about that we aren't alone in these ages of despair, Christ is always with us. After playing another few songs, Hubbe advertised the CD and T-shirt and said finally, even with good pronouncing, 'I love you' in Finnish, which seemed to be highly appreciated by the ones who had survived the gig this far. After playing 'Eyes of Beauty' CM left their instruments and began to take them down. A lousy try to make them play more had no effect and a sign from Petter confirmed that the show definitely was over. But what a gig! You cannot anything but admire these dudes for their brutality on stage and humble and kind personalities. A thing which could been better in my opinion was the mixing. The voice of Pilgrim could been lauder. And so even the audience, which was calm almost like Sunday school children while CM performed.

Here follows some pictures taken at the festival (may not be used without permission from the author)
