Lyrical empees - Live review 20/6/2001

Lyrical empees (LMP) is a new, promising rapcore act from the Finnish westcoast. This Wednesday evening they played a gig at the outdoor stage in Skolparken, Jakobstad. On the place there were about 40 persons and even though the band did a great show the audience seem to have been quite bored.
LMP started off with a quite new song, "Blindfold", and that really rocked! The band has developed a lot since I heard them the last time in december 2000. "Blindfold" was followed by two older songs, the RATM-influenced "Forgiveness" and "Deep black hole". When I heard these two songs I realized that these guys have added a heavier touch to their music and sound, and since I'm a metalhead that sounds great in my ears!
"Turn away" was the next song and this one has got a real hard-hittin' chorus that you should check out some day (for example at OccFest 01 the 19th of July...)
The two last songs in the ordinary set, "Judgement" and "I'm no animal" have some controversial lyrics about homosexuality and evolution theory, and I must say that LMP has got some great attitude. Go on and kick some butt guys.
When the band quit playing the audience suddenly did come awake and they wanted some more. The band played two more songs ("Some kind of intro" and "Escapin' elevator music") and that was a worthy ending of a great gig.

Summary:
LMP did a great gig, the PA-system was definately not one of the best I've seen but the soundengineer did a good job and he made it sound ok. The audience was way too boring...
