It has many times been said that Antestor are the masters of "sorrow blackmetal"
and I can't find any reason for saying anything else... Martyrium is not as black as their other release "the Return of the black death", this album has got some cool doom influences and the vocals are more varied with some death-style and also with som clean parts. The highlights of this disc are without any doubt Mercy Lord, Depressed and the title track, which is a great instrumental song. Beside those there are no bad songs here, the only thing I could complain about a little is the overall soundpicture, the drums for example could be more kicking. But this is an awesome album from a legendary band! |
