Travail - Beautiful Loneliness
|
The first time I put on Travail.s Beautiful loneliness I was struck by the force and the attitude of the record and thought to myself .man, this is good., it was like being hit by something that was hard but had feelings. Especially the 4th track on the record A Song For a Friend spoke to me with it.s intense riffs, strong bass and skillful drumming. But the second time I listened to it, it occurred to me that they sounded like Coal Chamber, and some of the songs like Psycore, a lot, maybe too much. Suddenly I almost felt disappointed, but then I took a closer look at their lyrics and found a new dept of Beautiful Loneliness that I hadn.t found before. Their lyrics are personal and deep, and they are very straight on. Sometimes I do disagree with their lyrics, but I often disagree with a lot of things and I am often wrong. The record is professionally produced, and why shouldn.t it? Travail is signed to a label that has produced records for a lot of good artists and the members of Travail seem to be professional and know how to handle their instruments.
All in all, Beautiful Loneliness is, as I would describe it, a strong and good record. Sounds like Coal Chamber and Psycore (especially in those songs where Matt seems to prefer talking instead of singing) sometimes, as I mentioned earlier, maybe too much but still manages to create a personal touch in their music.
