Extol - Live review 17/8/2001

I had travelled 500km to see Extol live in Helsinki that night. And I'm sure it was worth all the sweat and money I put on it! This was to be the no.1 concert experience of my life.
The band to support Extol this night was the Finnish blackmetalband Thyrane and I felt from the beginning of Thyrane's show that this would become a spiritual and musical fight. Guess who won... ;-)
Extol started their set with "Time stands still" and it didn't take a long time until a part of the audience started to throw beerpints on the band and a few of them also landed in the moshpit consisting of Finland's christian underground people. I was lucky to get one in my head! ;-)
The show went on and Extol played "Celestial completion" as their next song and that was surely one of the highlights of the night. After that they played "Your beauty divine" which is a new song from the Paralysis EP. That rocked!

The show went on with "Of light and shade", "Superior", "Renewal" and "Inferno". The audience started to realize that throwing beerpints on the band didn't do any good so they started to show their middle fingers in front of the stage instead. Peter only smiled at them and we in the moshpit could feel the victory; satan is truly defeated!!!

Extol played "Ember" as encore and until that I hadn't really realized how much that song kick ass but then I did... Have to say this was a neckwrecking experiance and it was also a great testimony that christian metal does make a great impact in the metal world.
