Where can I get the CD?

Divine in Sight - Sorrow and promise
|
Once upon a time a friend from Sweden told about a new great CD that he had
received and I was told that it really kicked some serious butt, so I became
very anxious about this and decided to check it out. What my friend also told
me was that the CD was just containing three songs...but what he did NOT tell
me was that those three songs all put together gave a clocking time over 75
minutes!!!
I contacted the band and they were very kind to me, and they sent their CD to me.
After all these terrible things that happend in New York and Washington I had
to wait an additional week or two until I recieved it. But as you will
understand later it was worth every single day of waiting!
There is one flaw, and I think I will mention it at once: The production is a
bit crappy. Not the crystal sound that you prefer from these kind of bands. It
is not THAT bad but you will notice it. I hope they will enter the Finnvox
studio (The home of Stratovarius, Sonata Arctica, Edguy and soon...) next time!
But now over to the good stuff!
The first you will notice when you put in the CD in your player is that the
talent is there, you don't have to wait for many seconds before you'll notice
that. I am extremely impressed by the bassist in the band! Just listen to the
first song and you'll understand why! I also really enjoy the countless numbers
of guitar solos that appear, there are more than enough to feed the hunger of
our melodic soul! The singer is very good, clear vocals that catches your ears.
He sings very good, to say at least!!
Yeah, I almost forgot one thing: I said that there was only three songs.
That is a fact that is still true, but the third song is actually a rock
opera, divided in nine parts. More of that later...
Well, what about the songs then, you ask? Well the answer is:
"Black River" - This is a very good song, fantastic bass and drum work. You
will, if you are a bit into the progressive stuff, dig in to this one.
"By Leaps and Bounds" - An instrumental track, reminds a lot of Yes. Great
musicians show how to handle instruments! A VERY good song, among the best I've
heard in a very long time.
"Sorrow&Promise" - It is quite a hard for me, as a reviewer, to try to describe
this song in just a couple of rows but I'll give a shot. It is, as I said, a
rock opera. On the booklet it says it is a Christian rock opera and that is true.
It is a story of a man seing a vision of the world today, scary stuff as it
tells just how the world actually is today. It's about hell, sleeping christians
not doing their works for the unsaved mates and about demons marching our
streets. Scary but very well-written lyrics. And the music is fantastic, it
keeps melodic throughout the whole gigantic song. I said that Shadow Gallery's
First light would be a cleary winner of the "song of the year"-contest but now
I perhaps have to change my mind...
Jonathan, the bass-player, told that this CD was NOT perfect, and due to the
production it is not. But from a musically view it is not far away from
that category!
