Stairway -On Hollow ground

What is the differance between a guitarist and a shredder? Well a shredder can handle his guitar real fast.
What is the differance between a shredder and The shredder? Well the answer is that The shredder can handle his guitar in a special way and often succeeds to create an extra ordinary atmosphere to the music.

Now you may wondering why I am babbling about this? Well, the answer is simple. Stairway, a heavy metal band hailing from UK, has a guitarist which may be one of the finest shredders out there! My alltime favorite guitarist is named Criss Oliva (RIP 1993) and Stairway's guitarist, Pete Jennens, is the closest thing to him I've ever heard. Man, he can shred! With precision and that atmospheric touch that so few manage can to deliever. Just check out his solo in the 10+minutes epic 'Deo Volente (Thy will be done)' at the early 8minute mark. Breathtaking stuff which makes my spine shiver!

The singer is a good old heavy metal singer, with influences of Judas Priest and company. He does not take on the higher notes but what he sings he does with excellency.

Though some little more variety in the songs could be recommended. It's not that the songs sound all the same all the time, but you'll notice that some songs slip away unnoticed; and that is always a bad sign. But let me asure you that this is just a minor problem which I am sure they'll manage to avoid in their next release.

With an ok(sounds a bit tuneddowned) production this is sweet candy for every heavy metal fan like me.

Now over the the silly thing. This band is unsigned!!!!!!!!!!!(!!!!!!!!!!!!). I don't know what kind of world we are living in when this talented band (which has existed for over 25years) is being dumped by all the labels. Shame on the labels I say. I know bands, signed by the major labels, which are 10000 times worse than Stairway. Well, I am pretty sure that they'll get a deal soon, because this is something the metalworld cannot afford to miss out.

Are you still reading? Well, you should be off getting their album. Go and get it boy.
