The cross - Soldiers of the light
|
Aah, finally a band that is not ashamed of proclaiming the good news through their music!
The cross is a classic heavy metal from Norway, I was surprised of this fact because when I hear the words
metal and Norway I always think of black/death metal. But The cross is a heavy metal that is bringing
down fire from heaven!
From the first seconds, of this 3-song demo, to the very last, you cleary understand what the only goal
of The cross is, to share the gospel to the world and they're doing it quite good.
Musically I hear influences of Saint, Sons of thunder(though more melodic) and a bit
Judas Priest. The singer is not a high pitcher and when he doesn't sing bad at all I still feel that
the band could benefit of letting him sing more brutal and avoid the higher notes.
Lyrically they remind a lot of their brothers Sons of thunder, cleaver and straith lyrics which has
touched me soul more than once.
Of the three songs I think The Cross, with some awesome lyrics, and God's love still stand, with
some interesting riffs, are of very high quality.
The only real drawback is that the production is not very good, it's ok but the bass and drum sound is not mixed
in a way that pleases my metal ears. But as usual this is a common thing among demos and I'm sure they'll avoid
it next time.
With some awesome lyrics and some interesting riffs this is a disc you'll enjoy if you're in to heavy metal.
I'm happy to recommend The cross to you.
