Tourniquet - Pathogenic ocular dissonance
|
Tourniquet is a strange band, succeeding to create fantastic pieces of metal art with every, spare
Crawl to China, album they release. Pathogenic ocular dissonance is not exception. Melodic thrash
but with more heavy metal influences than usual.
This gem was originally released in 1992 but is now re-released with some extra tracks and digital mastering.
And once again they
showed the world that christian metal was alive and kicking. After the short intro the whole thing
explodes with help of the heavy and very catchy title track. Very heavy stuff indeed. After that we get the
somewhat strange but still very cool Phantom Limb and like this the journey continues until the
very end, with the epic The skeezix dilemma being the top of the mountain. (though my personal favourite
has to be catchy yet powerful Exoskeletons)
As the music is more influenced by heavy metal, so is also the singer(Guy Ritter), providing powerful shouts
combined at times with a melodic touch. We clearly see that Tourniquet here is influenced by some major
heavy metal bands but still they keep their unique trademark sound. The result is: you don't ask people
what Tourniquet sound like, because you already know that. And if you don't, you don't ask because
you should know.
This is one of the best christian metal CD's to see the daylight.
