Virgin Black - Elegant...and dying

After releasing their highly critiaclly acclaimed debut album, Sombre Romantic, the australian metallers here return with a bombastic gigantic piece, Elegant...and dying.

It's slow, majestic, very slow, melancholic, dramatic, even slower, explosive.
While the debut was a goth inspired trip, this journey is through the chambers of doom. It's one of those albums you need to listen to the whole album at once.Which can be difficult at times with its enormous clocking time of over 74 minutes.

One thing I find nice is that they still have some black metal screamings here and there, it spices up the whole thing. But mostly we get slow doom-influenced singing. The word slow can also be used to describe the only flaw I've found on Elegant... and dying. I don't understand the meaning of having the same repeative (slow) riff going on for minutes and minutes. But perhaps it's just me, as I don't reckon Doom metal being one of my favourite genres.

With a good production combined with their unique sound this is goodies for all of you doom digging metal heads out there.
